TimeLens — Privacy Policy
TimeLens is an AI camera that reimagines your photos in different time periods. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built TimeLens to collect as little as possible.
Summary
- We don't make you create an account.
- The photo you capture is sent to our server and to our AI provider only to generate your result, then the result is returned to you.
- Optional, coarse location is used only to make a transformation more historically plausible. It is not stored.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your card details.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we collect and why
Photos you capture. When you take a Time Travel photo, the image is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing service (a Cloudflare Worker) and forwarded to our AI image provider, Google (Gemini API), which generates the transformed image and returns it. We do not use your photos to build advertising profiles. Our processing service does not retain your photos after the request completes. Google processes the image to fulfill the request under its API terms; for the Gemini API, inputs are not used to train Google's models. Saving a result to your Photos library happens only when you tap Save, and stays on your device/iCloud.
Approximate location (optional). If you grant location permission, we use a coarse (city-level) location, converted to a short text label (e.g., "London, UK"), to help the AI make the era look plausible for where you are. We do not store your coordinates or location history. You can deny or revoke this anytime in iOS Settings; the app still works without it.
Purchases. Subscriptions and one-time "Time Travel" packs are processed by Apple via the App Store. We receive transaction status (e.g., that a purchase is active) to unlock features, but never your payment card or billing details. Your remaining Time Travel credits are stored locally on your device.
Diagnostics. Basic, non-identifying error information may be processed to keep the service working. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
What we do NOT collect
- No name, email, or account (unless you contact support).
- No contacts, no microphone recording, no background location.
- No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers strictly needed to run TimeLens:
- Apple — payments and app distribution.
- Google (Gemini API) — AI image generation.
- Cloudflare — our processing/relay service.
We do not sell personal data.
Data retention
- Photos: processed transiently and not retained by our service after your result is delivered.
- Location label: used in-memory for the request, not stored.
- Purchase/credit state: kept on your device; deleting the app removes it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data and to object to certain processing. Because we don't maintain accounts or store your photos, most data lives on your device or with Apple. To make a request or ask a question, email minimalstudiolabs@gmail.com.
Children
TimeLens is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app or our listing.
